Description:
Registered Nurse (RN)
The Crisis Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing skilled nursing assessment and intervention to patients and their families during times of crisis. This includes updating care plans, administering medication, and responding to urgent patient needs. Working closely with interdisciplinary team members, the Crisis RN collaborates to ensure the best possible patient care outcomes.
Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hour shifts, 4pm-12am, minimum every 3rd weekend, 1 on-call shift every 5-6 weeks, 2 holidays per year. This shift offers a pay differential.
Key Job Duties:
1. Provide skilled nursing assessment and appropriate intervention
2. Update the plan of care as necessary
3. Respond to urgent patient/family needs in collaboration with triage nurse
4. Initiate crisis care as needed
5. Report appropriate findings and significant changes to the primary team, attending physician and primary caregiver
6. Provide education to patient/family members on disease progression, symptom management, medication and other associated patient care needs
7. Administer and titrate medication according to physician/nurse practitioner orders
8. Record all received orders to the Electronic Medical Record and initiate follow up as needed
9. Prioritize daily work and make adjustments taking into account the needs of patients, Unity and other staff
10. Maintain level of competency in required areas (crisis and Residence nursing)
11. Collaborate with the Quality and Access Senior Director and Manager and other departments as appropriate on process improvement efforts
12. Participate in focus groups or other specialized work groups
13. Abide by Standards of Nursing Practice as outlined in Wisconsin Administrative Code
14. Comply with all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations as well as policies and procedures of Unity
15. Satisfy mandatory training requirements regarding local, state and federal regulations and/or Unity’s policies and procedures

17. Promote and maintain confidentiality
18. Perform other job-related duties as assigned
19. Maintain regular and reliable attendance
20. Share in providing seven days-a-week coverage

Qualifications:

Current unrestricted Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Wisconsin

Minimum of 2 years RN experience required, equivalent nursing experience may be considered

Excellent critical thinking skills

Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, reliable transportation and proof of current automobile insurance coverage

Must be 18 years of age or older.
