Description:
Mercy Home for Children seeks a versatile Grant Writer to join its Development Team. This key player will prepare and write letters of interest, grant proposals, and reports that are responsive to donor guidelines, including assembling required documentation and budgets. In addition, will gather information from relevant staff to articulate goals, activities, anticipated outcomes, successes, challenges, etc. appropriately to funders. The anticipated volume will be 3 to 5 proposals and/or reports monthly, largely to private foundation and corporate funders. The Grant Writer will report to our Director of Development, focusing on the organization’s funding portfolio.
Requirements:
Draft letters of interest, edit and draft grant proposals, development materials, and reports, effectively utilizing data from internal tracking sheets and other sources to build compelling submissions-
Assemble required documentation and budget as needed

Join program/development team meetings as needed to stay abreast of program updates and other information relevant to fundraising efforts

Engage in prospect research as requested and time allows

Exceptional writing, editing, and copy-editing skills

Excellent verbal communication skills, both in-person and on the phone

Proven research abilities, including gathering and interpreting data; funder prospecting experience desirable

Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment, working both independently and as a team member

Knowledge of New York Foundation and corporate donors desirable but not required

Experience or passion to learn about the intellectual and development disabilities community
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree Required and up to 5 years of grant writing experience in a non profit field. Strong computer skills.
Hours: 21 hrs per week (in-office)
