The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating the scheduling and dispatching of delivery operations by communicating with truck drivers via computers, phones, or two-way radios. This role involves assigning drivers to trucks, ensuring timely departures and arrivals, and being available to address drivers' questions, help avoid traffic jams, and provide updates on inclement weather. The Dispatcher interacts professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring all inquiries are answered accurately and promptly. As a team member, the Dispatcher performs duties that best serve the company's needs.
Position Responsibilities:
- Track drivers' progress along their routes using available technology.
- Check drivers in and out of terminals and update company records with trip details.
- Communicate daily with drivers, handling requests and complaints from customers.
- Calculate mileage for all trucks.
- Determine travel and route times for accurate delivery cost calculations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday from 3:00 am to 11:30 am
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
- 2-4 years of dispatch and commercial driver experience within the food service industry
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations and Hours of Service
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Word/Excel/Outlook)
