Seeking a Controller to oversee its Financial/Accounting Department. The Controller is an integral part of the Management Team, reporting to the CFO. Candidate must have a strong ability to define, execute, and measure key deliverables. Key qualities include - management of internal controls, cashflow management, and financial reporting accuracy. Manufacturing experience in a midsize or larger environment is preferred.
The Controller is responsible for timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, financial reporting, and KPI reporting/implementation. This individual will manage a team of 2+ individuals and provide oversight for all areas of general accounting, treasury & cash management, financial reporting, and internal auditing areas.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions:
- Maintains the company’s financial principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives.
- Ensures the integrity of the financial data; identify potential areas of financial risk and opportunities to support growth while maximizing profit margins.
- Implement internal controls on Treasury, cash management and optimizing cashflow.
- Oversee the maintenance of fiscal records and preparation of financial reports.
- Analyzes and interprets cost, budget, policies, and profit opportunity trends and present recommendations including financial risk assessments.
- Establish procedures and internal controls to ensure compliance with all relevant government and industry legislation and regulations.
- Manages the department staff including training, performance management, and coaching.
- Manages the annual budgeting process and monthly/quarterly reviews.
- Develop understanding of all contracts; optimize vendor relationships & contracts, bring attention to the Management Team any unsatisfactory issues.
- Review and approve all journal entries with appropriate documentation.
- Analyze production cost and improve job quoting process.
- Optimizing relationship with vendors, lenders, government agencies, and external legal, accounting, and professional service providers.
- Experience with local/state taxes, tax planning, and workers compensation.
Required Education, Skills & Abilities:
- A minimum of 5 years as a Plant Controller or Corporate/Divisional Controller
- Strong Leadership Skillset
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- CPA (Active/Inactive) (Preferred, but not required)
- NetSuite experience preferred but not required
