Summary: This position is primarily responsible for supervising various production and food handling functions assigned by the director of Quality Control (QC) department by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Core duties and responsibilities include the following.
· Performs swabs at changeover.
· Examines, evaluates, analyzes and keeps records of materials and products from receiving through production and shipping.
· Handles protocols for Holds, rework & non-compliant ingredients, packaging and products.
· Prepares daily Production Summaries and scans to file.
· Tests seams, pH, %TA, °Brix, Color, moisture, salt. Takes micro swabs, performs inoculation and incubation, summarizes results, monitors follow-ups and maintains records.
· Monitors production lines to verify codes, labels, weights and packaging.
· Supervises blending activities.
· Works closely with shipping and production in matters related to quality control.
· Is accountable for observing, analyzing, and applying solutions in quality and food safety areas.
· Adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety and food quality fundamentals including traceability, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plans, allergens, control of contaminants, calibration of equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience in quality in a food production related field.
· Knowledge of the basics of FSMA and/or a GFSI scheme.
· Minimum one to three years of experience in QA/QC activities in food, pharmaceutical or related manufacturing fields.
· Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety and food quality fundamentals.
· Knowledge of (HACCP), traceability, alleger control, equipment calibration preferred.
· Proven ability to proactively protect food supply.
· Demonstrated desire to learn and grow in the quality control field.
