Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. As an Optometric Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting the optometrist in providing exceptional eye care services to our patients. Your responsibilities will include performing various diagnostic tests, maintaining patient records, and providing support during eye exams. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preliminary tests and measurements on patients, including visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as tonometry (eye pressure measurement), visual field testing, and retinal imaging
- Assist with contact lens fittings and teach patients proper insertion, removal, and care techniques
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all equipment is clean and properly functioning
- Document patient history, symptoms, and test results accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) system
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and answer any questions they may have
- Provide support to the optometrist during eye exams by conducting pre-testing procedures
- Assist with frame selection and educate patients on lens options based on their prescription needs
- Process orders for eyeglasses or contact lenses and ensure accurate delivery to patients
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification or training as an Optometric Technician is preferred
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye
- Familiarity with medical terminology used in optometry
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems, preferably Epic
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages
- Basic math skills for retail sales transactions
- Ability to perform vital signs measurements accurately
- Prior experience in sales or retail is a plus

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
