Overview:
The basic function of the material handler is to unload, move and store a variety of materials and parts; unload incoming materials, report shortages, move to the proper storage area, store, stack and arrange for use.
Responsibilities:
· Inventory errors found should be corrected immediately. If possible, determine the cause of the error and inform the other technicians, so the necessary actions can be established to prevent future errors.
· Read, comprehend, and interpret bills of material
· Safety - at the beginning of each shift a safety and mechanical check list is required to be completed on each forklift.
· Operate a fork truck in a safe and efficient manner.
· Move materials between departments, following routings, delivery tickets or orders.
· Be familiar with weigh-counting procedures, record control procedures, shipping and receiving procedures and setting up schedules.
· Operate power fork truck in moving materials, stacking, loaded pallets making frequent trips out of doors to storage areas.
· Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.
· Identify and record any product, process, and quality system problems.
· Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
· Verify the implementation of solutions.
· Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected as defined by applicable procedures and/or delegation of the area manufacturing manager.
· Participate actively in the team to achieve team goals.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Must be able to function effectively in a team environment and to effectively communicate with scheduling, material handling and manufacturing personnel.
· Excellent communication and organizational skills
· Flexibility to work overtime as needed
· Good understanding of customer demands
· Familiarity with bill of lading, packing list, and international shipping requirements
· Must comply with all Environmental Management System (EMS) policies and procedures
· Must be able to satisfactorily complete all Shipping position requirements, to include Yard Dog operations (or be able to be trained to standard on Yard Dog operations).
Education/Certifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- High school diploma, College, or training in material handling, forklifting or related field required. This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
