The mission of Dallas Theological Seminary as a professional, graduate-level school is to glorify God by equipping godly servant-leaders for the proclamation of His Word and the building up of the body of Christ worldwide.
The Branch Campus Library Assistant (BCLA), with direction from professional librarians at the Dallas campus, supports basic library operations at the DC campus in number of areas including circulation, stack maintenance, equipment support, security, basic reference assistance, light editing of holdings records, and end-processing of books.
The BCLA interprets and enforces policies of DTS Libraries; establishes procedures to fit local needs; submits brief annual report to the Director of DTS Libraries with assessments and recommendations concerning services, collection, etc.
The BCLA helps students use library resources; provides basic information about how to use WorldCat and Atla Religion database and how to use Turabian templates. Assists students: answers basic reference queries; refers students to Dallas campus reference staff for more comprehensive help; assists with copiers/scanners/printers, network, and login problems.
The BCLA performs routine circulation functions (edit patron records; checkout, check-in, renew, process holds; process overdue books; process missing and lost books) and stack maintenance functions (shelving; shelf reading; inventory) and security functions (open and close library; secure equipment and collection).
The BCLA may perform light editing of holdings records and may complete end processing (attach barcodes, pockets, ownership plates, spine labels)
