Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Music Teacher to join our K-8 educational team. This role requires someone with a positive and likable attitude, who is enthusiastic about inspiring young minds through music education. The ideal candidate should be flexible and creative, capable of designing and implementing a comprehensive music program that caters to the diverse interests and abilities of our students.
Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development:
- Design and develop a music curriculum that aligns with national and state standards, integrating instrumental and choral elements.
- Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
- Instructional Delivery:
- Teach music classes to students from Kindergarten to 8th grade, fostering a love for music and developing their musical skills.
- Utilize available resources including piano keyboards, drum set, recorders/flutes, and guitars to enhance learning experiences.
- Ensemble and Choir Direction:
- Direct and supervise student ensembles, which may include instrumental groups and choirs.
- Organize rehearsals, performances, and other musical activities to showcase students' talents.
- Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
- Assess students' musical abilities and progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, achievements, and performances.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate music education with other subjects and school activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding students' progress and participation in music programs.
- Classroom Management:
- Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel supported and encouraged to participate.
- Enforce discipline when necessary, ensuring a respectful and orderly learning atmosphere.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree(preferred) in Music Education or related field.
- State teaching certification or eligibility for certification(preferred).
- Prior experience teaching music to elementary and middle school students is advantageous.
- Proficiency in playing relevant musical instruments.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
