JOB DESCRIPTION
The HR Director will develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives, ensuring that HR initiatives support business growth and long-term success. The HR Director will oversee the full-cycle recruitment and selection process, including but not limited to workforce planning, sourcing, interviewing, and hiring top talent. The HR Director will develop and implement effective onboarding and retention strategies to foster employee engagement and retention, including selection of benefits packages. The HR Director will oversee employee relations activities including but not limited to, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, grievance handling, and investigations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations and promote a positive work environment.
- Strategic HR Planning - Performance Management: Design and implement performance management programs, including performance reviews, goal setting, feedback mechanisms, and performance improvement plans. Provide guidance and support to managers in managing employee performance effectively.
- Compensation and Benefits: Develop and manage compensation and benefits programs, ensuring market competitiveness, internal equity, and compliance with legal requirements. Review and analyze compensation data and make recommendations for salary adjustments and bonus programs.
- Employee Relations: Implementing and overseeing policies and procedures that promote fair treatment, effective communication, and conflict resolution. Lead initiatives that enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention, while also addressing concerns in a timely and confidential manner. The HR Director will collaborate with senior management to align strategies with organizational goals, fostering a cohesive work environment.
- HR Policies and Compliance: Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures in accordance with legal requirements and industry best practices. Ensure compliance with labor laws, employment regulations, and company policies.
- Training and Development: Identify training and development needs, design and deliver employee development programs, and foster a learning culture. Evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives and manage the employee training budget.
- Employee Engagement: Develop and implement employee engagement strategies to foster a positive work culture, improve employee satisfaction, and enhance employee morale. Conduct employee surveys, analyze results, and implement action plans based on feedback.
- HR Metrics and Reporting: Develop and track HR metrics and analytics to measure the effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives. Prepare and present HR reports to senior management and provide insights for decision-making.
- Change Management: Lead HR initiatives related to organizational change, including restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and cultural transformation. Develop change management plans and support leaders in managing change effectively.
- Employee Wellness and Safety: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement employee wellness programs and initiatives. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
- HR Team Leadership: Lead and develop the HR team, providing guidance, coaching, and support. Foster a high-performance culture, promote professional development, and ensure effective HR operations and service delivery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years proven experience in progressively responsible HR leadership roles is essential. SHRM or related certification is required.
- Experience in cannabis is a plus. Experience in a related industry such as healthcare, manufacturing, or agriculture is required;
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR principles, practices, employment laws, and regulations. Stay updated with emerging trends and best practices in HR.
- Strong strategic mindset with the ability to align HR initiatives with organizational goals and drive organizational effectiveness through HR strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage an HR team effectively, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities. Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and drive change.
- Extensive experience in managing complex employee relations issues, conflict resolution, and investigations.
- Proven experience in talent acquisition, performance management, succession planning, and employee development.
- In-depth knowledge of compensation and benefits strategies, including job evaluation, salary structure design, and benefits program management.
- Proficient in HR metrics and analytics to measure the effectiveness of HR programs and inform decision-making.
- Experience in leading and managing organizational change initiatives, including cultural transformation and restructuring.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to build effective relationships and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
- High level of integrity and professionalism.

Health Insurance:
Vangarden offers health, dental, and vision insurance through Cigna. The company pays for 100% of the individual monthly premiums and 80% of all other plans (family, employee/spouse, employee/child(ren)
Medical HRA:
Vangarden offers a medical HRA which covers the first ⅔ of the annual deductible for each plan. For the individual plan, this means Vangarden covers the first $2,000, with the employee responsible for the last $1,000. The medical HRA covers costs such as copays and prescriptions.
