Reading InterventionistCoburn Elementary SchoolDescription: The Reading Specialist position will be responsible for supporting student achievement in the area of English Language Arts, with special attention to reading. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -Provide targeted interventions to small groups of students in push in and/or pull out formats as needed, implementing phonics, fluency and reading comprehension strategies-Analyze student performance data to inform instructional decisions and student intervention plans.-Administer and score screening reading assessments to determine student support and monitor progress-Collaborate with general/special education educators on ELA curriculum, accommodations, modifications, and the monitoring of progress-Work and collaborate with families, classroom teachers, other specialists, and administrators to develop and provide the most effective interventions and methods of instruction to address individual student needs-Employ a variety of instructional strategies that engage students at a high level-Guide the learning process toward the achievement of established district and state curriculum standards -Create a positive classroom environment that supports effective teaching and learning-Regularly communicate student progress with parents/caregivers, teachers, and administrators-Participate in ongoing professional development/training-Fulfill department and school duties as assigned by building administrators-Attend required faculty/staff meetingsQualifications: -Bachelors Degree or higher from an accredited institution, Masters degree preferred-Massachusetts Elementary Certification for Reading Specialist required in addition to Reading Recovery credentials-Reading Recovery Trained is preferred-Hold a deep commitment to students and families and value diversity-Ability to build authentic, caring relationships with colleagues, students, and families-A demonstrated belief that each student can be successful and make growth-A demonstrated dedication to lifelong learning, reflection, and continued personal and professional growth-Excellent Interpersonal and collaborative teamwork skillsSalary: Per Unit A contract
