Scion Nonprofit Staffing is searching for an Interim Nonprofit Finance and Operations Director on behalf of our client, an incredible nonprofit organization based in San Francisco, CA! OVERVIEW:
As the Interim Finance and Operations Director, you will report directly to the Executive Director and be a key member of the organization’s senior management team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in nonprofit financial management and operations, including HR and IT, a proven track record of collaborating with board executives, and a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and senior management team to prepare the annual budget.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, ensuring compliance and timely execution for accurate budget variance assessments.
- Develop and implement effective accounting policies and procedures to establish strong internal controls, facilitate reporting, and ensure financial responsibility.
- Oversee the Finance and Operations department and staff.
- Manage monthly and annual financial reporting.
- Participate actively as a key member of the Senior Management team, providing insights during Board meetings.
- Manage annual and programmatic audits as necessary.
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures.
- Ensure adherence to financial contractual reporting requirements and submit comprehensive monthly reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Manage and oversee staff payroll and budgeting.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and human resources policies.
- Review and manage staff salaries to ensure competitive employee benefits.
- Oversee contract management.
- Oversee staff hiring and onboarding processes, including job description development, recruitment, and interviews.
- Evaluate and oversee employee career development and training processes.
- Manage IT and facilities operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Passion for conserving the environment!
- Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree a plus.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting.
- Minimum 5 years of nonprofit finance and operations leadership experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in organizational management.
- Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This interim opportunity offers an hourly range of $75-81/hr. In addition, this role offers medical, dental, vision, and voluntary life insurance, an employee assistance plan (EAP), and commuter and transit benefits for those who are working on average 30 or more hours per week. An employee retirement plan is also available.
