Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods, adhering to the highest standards of nursing practice and patient safety. This role requires a dedicated and experienced professional who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize the needs of patients and their families.
Duties:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to pregnant women, new mothers, and newborns during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods.
- Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations, including diagnostic evaluations, to identify potential complications or issues.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and maintain accurate records of patient care.
- Assist with catheterization and other medical procedures as necessary.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans that address the unique needs of each patient.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families, including behavioral health guidance and emotional support.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment, adhering to hospital policies and protocols for infection control and safety.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to continuously improve patient outcomes and care processes.
Skills:
- BLS & NRP, NIHSS, & ACLS
- TX or Multistate RN License
- Acute care experience, with a focus on labor and delivery nursing.
- Knowledge of ICD-9 coding and ability to accurately document patient care.
- Familiarity with behavioral health principles and practices.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with patients and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to unexpected situations.
- Certification in obstetric nursing or a related field.
- Ability to work effectively in an ICU or other critical care setting.
- Familiarity with ophthalmology and mammography procedures, as well as other diagnostic evaluations relevant to labor and delivery nursing.
