About Monster
We’re forward-thinking technology people with heart in the timeshare travel space. Our mission is simple - to offer the best product with the best service, period.
We make our own rules, drive our own opportunities, and try to approach every challenge with fresh eyes. Of course, we can’t do it alone. We know when to ask for help, collaborate with others, and partner with smart people. We embrace diversity and openness because it’s in our DNA. As part of the hospitality industry, our goal is to marry technology with service to provide our guests with an overwhelmingly exceptional experience.
Who We're Looking For:
It's crunch time. The company got a sweet new opportunity halfway through that app you're working on, and we need to capitalize on it. It needs some new functionality that nobody had accounted for, and now it's time sensitive. You were initially asked to build a metaphorical house, but you might end up shipping a street-legal boat. But within weeks of delivery, literally hundreds of families have traveled in a new way that you made possible.
Does that excite you?
We're looking for someone with a passion and ability to make cool things happen.
If you're most excited when your work makes a difference, if you relish the challenge of creating products that serve an entirely unique purpose, if you're equally comfortable solving problems with a team and on your own...you might just be who we're looking for!
- The ideal candidate isn't just able to build complex systems to create a simple user experience--you're deeply motivated by that kind of work.
- The ideal candidate isn't just able to adapt on the fly--you thrive on building order in the middle of chaos.
What We Do:
While the company has expanded to more than 275 team members, our custom software is currently developed and maintained by only a few developers. Most of us worked with Monster before learning to code, and most of us are self taught! That has led to 3 key traits in our team culture:
- User First - All our apps are optimized to improve the process of helping guests travel and designed with the help of people who have worn the end user's shoes.
- Creative Freedom - We'll provide the "what" items that need done. When solutions work and play well with the rest of our ecosystem, we're big fans of giving wide discretion in "how" you want to do it.
- Delivery Matters - Everything we do has a direct impact on dozens of team members and thousands of guests. We're fiercely committed to delivering impactful products in a timely manner.
What You'll Do:
As a full-stack developer you will participate in design, development, testing, and delivery of large and small projects. Most projects will be worked with other members of the team, but sometimes you'll own a task from concept to launch. You'll also be responsible for maintaining and updating those apps to support new business functions and opportunities. You'll need to:
- Collaborate with the team to design, build, and maintain full-stack applications.
- Design, build, and maintain applications on your own in a way that other developers will be able to easily support.
- Flesh out generalized concepts into a fully functional product.
- Proactively communicate with stakeholders when additional clarity is required.
- Adapt to changing project scopes mid-development when new business needs or opportunities arise.
- Communicate with end users post-launch to improve effectiveness and squash bugs.
What We Need:
- At least 2 years of experience of working with Typescript, Angular, and Node.js.
- At least 2 years experience in a full-stack developer role.
- A proven aptitude for learning new technologies.
- Demonstrable excellence at solving complex problems to yield impactful results.
- Excellent communication skills with other developers, stakeholders, and end users.
- A willingness to relocate to Myrtle Beach if you're not local to the area. While having a local team member is not negotiable, for the right person we'll make it easy!
What Would Be Fabulous:
- Experience with Firebase / GCP, where our custom software currently lives.
- Experience with small teams who make big impacts.
- Holding a higher caliber of skill than us in our own kind of work. We want upgrades people, upgrades!
- A fun personality. A work environment is only as enjoyable as its people!
Our Hiring Process:
- This position will be available to new applicants until 7/14.
- First-round phone interviews will be completed by 7/19.
- We will have a basic coding challenge to verify aptitude for those who pass the first interview.
- Challenge review and second-round interviews, either in person or via Zoom, will take place between 7/22 and 7/26.
- If the final candidate is not local to Myrtle Beach, we'll bring you out here to meet the team to make sure we jive in person.
- Final decision should be reached no later than 8/2!
