The General Superintendent will provide guidance and direction to multiple industrial concrete projects within an assigned area of responsibility. The General Superintendent will have experience and expertise in structural concrete, forming, placing, safety, logistics, crew management, labor productivity and quality control. The position will require frequent travel, long hours and weekend work depending on project/client needs.
Responsibilities:
- Review scope of work, bid drawings and project specifications to fully understand the client’s expectations and project requirements
- Participate in preconstruction and project kickoff meetings with PM’s and Clients
- Assist in field engineering efforts as required for layout
- Provide daily support as necessary to Project Managers and Site Superintendents including document control, permit requests, scheduling, progress tracking and subcontractor management process.
- Coordinate with Project Manager the mobilization and demobilization of the project
- Participate in all project construction meetings with construction team
- Conduct quality control inspections and ensure construction plans are followed and in compliance with design/specifications/schedule
- Maintain customer relationships by staying engaged with the client throughout the project, attend client meetings and communicate status updates to team.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager to manage change order process by being aware of potential cost impacts, promptly submit scope changes, and estimate schedule impacts to each change order
- Represent Superior in all actions onsite with subcontractors, site inspections and owner representatives
- Responsible for ensuring that current and up-to-date drawings are being utilized by everyone onsite
- Coordinate hotel reservations for the crews with accounting department; follow up to confirm crew has checked out and communicate that back to accounting
- Lead and advocate for all Superior Construction Services’ Safety Programs and Practices
Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of concrete construction experience in layout, excavation, form work, rebar/embeds, and concrete placement in structural concrete foundation slabs and tilt walls
- 5+ years' experience as a Concrete Foreman/Superintendent
- Must understand concrete mix design, admixtures, curing, cold and hot weather procedures for concrete placing and finishing
- Knowledge of construction scheduling, cost control, and experience managing multiple projects and crews
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
