Fast-paced ophthalmology practice in Mesa and Tempe, AZ seeks individual to fill a permanent, full-time front office receptionist lead position. Primary duties include answering telephone, verifying patient appointments and responding to patient records requests. Ideal candidate will have outstanding telephone, secretarial, communication and computer skills. Must be organized, multi-task oriented, energetic and possess a positive, professional attitude. Minimum of two years customer service/telephone receptionist experience required.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two-years experience in medical practice and/or customer service preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient Check-In/Check-Out:
- Responsible for patient check-in, greeting everyone in a pleasant and professional manner.
- Track patients in the reception area and communicate with them as needed.
- Make copies of scripts for providers.
- Responsible for collecting appropriate payment upon patient check-in or check-out. Assist in collecting past due balances.
- Thank patient by name and offer additional assistance if necessary.
Accuracy with the following information:
- Evaluate chart data to verify all information has been received, completed, and signatures obtained.
- Scan patients’ insurance card and driver’s license.
- Ensure that proper authorization or referral is collected from the patient.
- Assist patients in obtaining authorization or referrals that have not been received by the practice.
- Enter all new patient demographic information into the computer.
- Put charts in bin for specific physician or technician.
- Mark arrival time of patients in office and assist in making sure patients are seen in a timely manner.
- Schedule follow-up appointment if needed. If not scheduled, follow appropriate recall procedure.
- Ensure payments are collected, documented on superbills, and posted to patient accounts.
- Verify that all payments are accounted for and entered correctly on daily balance reports.
Administrative:
- Place telephone calls on no-show appointments; reschedule as needed.
- Provide back-up support on telephones.
- Ensure reception room is neat and orderly.
- End of day balance.
- Assist with other general office duties as needed.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
