Full time, Academic Year: Three 12 hour shifts, 7 am to 7 pm, with one Saturday and one Sunday per month.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Perform all nursing duties in accordance with the Connecticut State Nursing Act while adhering to all facility policies and procedures
- Actively demonstrates a working knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, principles and practice in order to holistically care for the patient/student
- Provide emergency care to students, employees or others on Kent School campus as outlined in nursing protocol, using nursing assessment skills
- Monitor patient progress and identify any changes in status, acting on those changes to ensure patient safety and comfort
- Thorough documentation all nursing visits and follow up care provided for admissions or temporary admissions
- Accountability and responsibility for each student admitted until transfer of patient care or shift change
- Assist physician in caring for patient, giving a complete and thorough report on patients
- Perform routine nursing care, while using age specific and universal precaution practices at all times
- Communicate with Kent School employees, students/patients, and their families as appropriate with excellent written and verbal communication skill
- Punctual and dependable
- Be able to keep up in a fast paced work environment
- Collaborate with all members of the healthcare team including the counseling department and athletic trainers
- Consistently seek educational tools in order to broaden knowledge base of various age groups, diseases and best practices
- Maintain active CT registered nursing license and current BLS certification
- Understands the potential to exposure to internal and external hazardous materials including but not limited to: blood and BBP, infectious/communicable diseases
Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelors degree in nursing and 2 years of work experience

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands listed below are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
- Must be physically able to respond to any emergency within the Health Center or outside of the Health Center, including moving a patient if deemed necessary
- Visual acuity within normal parameters.
- Requires substantial movement (motions) of wrists, hands, and fingers with keyboard use.
