Position Overview
As a Barista, you will play a fundamental role greeting customer, taking orders, and delivering exceptional coffee experiences to customers. With your expertise in coffee preparation, attention to detail, and friendly customer service, you will be a key contributor to the success of the coffee shop. As a Barista, you will contribute to creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment for coffee enthusiasts and casual customers alike.
Duties / Responsibilities
Beverage Preparation: Utilize your expertise to prepare a wide range of coffee and tea beverages to the highest standards, ensuring consistent taste and presentation.
Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with customers, taking orders, and addressing any inquiries or concerns in a friendly and professional manner.
Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of beverage quality, consistency, and presentation, ensuring that each drink meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Menu Knowledge: Possess a thorough understanding of the coffee shop's menu, including various coffee beans, flavor profiles, and preparation methods. Educating customers by presenting and explaining the café drink menu and answering questions.
Equipment Operation: Operate coffee machines, grinders, and other equipment with precision, ensuring they are properly calibrated and maintained for optimal performance.
Cash Handling: Accurately process cash and card transactions, handle change, and maintain a balanced cash register.
Cleanliness and Hygiene: Keep the workspace clean and organized, including regular maintenance of equipment, utensils, and the overall café environment. Ensuring that the café is clean and well-presented at all times.
Order Fulfillment: Prepare orders efficiently during busy periods while maintaining the quality and presentation of beverages.
Upselling: Suggest additional items such as pastries, snacks, or specials to enhance customers' experience and increase sales.
Collaboration: Communicate effectively with coworkers and collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of orders and a smooth overall operation.
Adaptability: Adjust to changes in customer flow and special requests, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to accommodate diverse preferences.
Continuous Learning: Stay updated on coffee trends, brewing techniques, and new products, enhancing your knowledge to share with customers.
Other Responsibilities: Work scheduled shifts, arrive to work early and on time, note and give Lead Barista customers' preferences and feedback.
Inventory and Stock: When needed assist with receiving delivered supplies, and restocking café supplies.
Participate in building Ten Rooms Culture: A concept where each department within an organization cultivates its own unique atmosphere and characteristics, contributing collectively to the overall organizational culture.
Required Qualifications
- Friendly demeanor and strong interpersonal skills for customer interaction.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Comfortable working under pressure during peak hours.
- Basic math skills for accurate cash handling and transaction processing.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
- Hygiene and cleanliness awareness, adhering to food safety standards.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a barista or in a similar customer service role is preferred
- Knowledge of coffee beans, roasting, and brewing methods is advantageous
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional hospitality or barista training is a plus.
