The Manager of Manufacturing Engineering is a critical role and is responsible for providing technical leadership to support the manufacturing floor and improve quality, yields, efficiency, cycle time and cost. With a significant pipeline of new and exciting complex opto-electronic products for a variety of applications, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager will play an instrumental role in collaborating across the organization and ensuring new products leverage the New Product Introduction process and meet requirements of customers. The Manager will be a dynamic, hands-on leader driving change and improved results. As a key member of the Operations leadership team, the Manager will have an opportunity to make a significant impact on the company’s business results and overall success.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Manufacturing Engineering team, including Test Engineering, to improve production quality, yields, efficiency, throughput, cycle time, touch time and cost
- Create strategies, plan, develop and deploy new and improved processes and production and test equipment to support improvements in the areas above as well as equipment uptime
- Challenge the status quo, exhibit an excellent ability to work cross-functionally, and drive for significantly improved ways of working and results
- Collaborate with Product/R&D Engineering and Manufacturing to implement new products and supporting processes on the production floor, leverage and follow the New Product Introduction process, and enable products to ramp production output rapidly
- Monitor results & progress regularly through KPI’s
- Improve process control, including through SPC, capability studies, gauge R&R and control plans
- Deploy the Manufacturing Engineering team effectively and efficiently to solve daily and weekly tactical problems quickly
- Work hands-on as required to understand and solve problems, and support your team and Manufacturing
- Manage the site’s facilities and equipment maintenance
- Manage budgets effectively and contribute to improved profitability for the company
Requirements:
- B.A./B.S. degree, preferably in Engineering or related technical field. Master’s degree desirable.
- 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Manufacturing and/or Quality
- High level of demonstrated technical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to work hands on and contribute at the individual level when needed
- Knowledge and track record of implementing Six Sigma and Lean initiatives strongly preferred
- Excellent communication and project management skills
