POSITION TITLE: Marketing & Communications Manager
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
CLASSIFICATION: Full-time / non-exempt
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Develops, creates and manages VSC’s marketing & communications efforts and assists/ collaborates with VSC team members on prevention education, outreach and development related activities.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITY:
Marketing & Communications
- Designs, edits, coordinates and produces print and electronic communications (flyers, e-blasts, social media posts, newsletters, Annual Report, etc.)
- Manages, develops content for and regularly updates VSC website.
- Creates content for, manages and schedules VSC’s various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)
- Serves as VSC’s “brand manager” and ensures all VSC electronic communications & printed materials and other collateral maintain uniform standards, appearance and messaging.
- Manages VSC marketing activities, advertising campaigns, PSA’s, promotional videos, etc.
- Manages coordination and ordering of staff apparel, business cards, name tags, name plates, etc.
Media & Public Relations
- Generates positive publicity through the creation and dissemination of press releases, media advisories and public service announcements.
- Manages media relations, stays abreast of daily news and proactively “pitches” potential news stories positioning VSC personnel & services as the local experts in victimization, sexual assault and tragic circumstances.
- Coordinates staff participation in and preparation for media stories.
- Supports VSC Executive Director as agency spokesperson as needed.
Community Awareness, Outreach & Education
- Identifies, schedules, and participates in a minimum of 15 community awareness, outreach and prevention education events within 21 specific zip codes of the City of Orlando.
- Helps spread awareness about VSC services / programs and acts as a VSC “Brand Ambassador.”
- Assists with the development of trainings as approved by VSC’s Education Coordinator
- Coordinates and presents educational training for various audiences both virtually and in-person.
- Collaborates with community partners to develop new outreach and training presentations as needed.
- Identifies free locations to disseminate VSC promotional materials and facilitates restocking activities as needed.
Other Key Duties
- Identifies, cultivates and enhances relationships and strategic partnerships with local businesses and civic organizations.
- Assists with donor development, follow-up and stewardship activities.
- Assists in planning, coordinating, and executing VSC events.
- Creates and implements periodic targeted fundraising campaigns.
- Assists in the creation and dissemination of solicitation / fundraising materials.
- Develops content for fundraising sections oof website, newsletters, direct mail appeals, etc.
- Leads implementation of VSC marketing related strategic plan goals.
- Regularly monitors and records marketing and communications activities within VSC data management system and updates/tracks marketing and social media analytics on monthly BOD Metrics Report.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, public relations, communications or related discipline.
- Two years of experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, communications or a related field.
- Prior experience with WordPress and website management required.
- Experience creating newsletters, advertisements and campaigns utilizing Constant Contact, Mail Chimp or similar platforms.
- Prior experience public speaking and performing community outreach activities preferred.
- Mastery of English language required.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized.
- Outgoing personality and professional appearance.
- Ability to interact positively with unique individuals of all ages, genders, religions, cultures, ethnicities, attitudes, beliefs, other characteristics without discrimination, demonstrating cultural competency and community awareness.
- Computer skills including experience with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Prezi, Canva and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced and collaborative team environment.
- Experience designing and producing printed materials, electronic communications, presentations and/or video production preferred.
- Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
- Flexible scheduling, including evenings and occasional weekends may be required.
- An understanding of and empathy for survivors of sexual assault and abuse.
- Reliable transportation, valid FL driver’s license and ability to travel to different events and trainings as needed (mileage reimbursement provided).
- Complete FCASV Advocacy Core Training (ACT) within 30 days of hire.
- Must successfully pass a Level 2 FDLE background screening and E-verify.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.71 - $21.71 per hour
