Assists the Aquatic Director by providing excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Helps maintain staff management and scheduling including, fills in where needed, assists with events and YMCA functions throughout the year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Demonstrates the standards by which all lifeguards/staff must perform, trains staff as needed to bring the standard up, and maintain team atmosphere. Knows, understands, and helps train others on safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the aquatics area and building.
2. Assists in, training, developing, scheduling and coordinating aquatic staff and volunteers. Assists in reviewing and evaluating staff performance. Helps with new lifeguard and swim instructor orientation.
3. Aids in scheduling lifeguards/staff and ensures all shifts are covered by staff and fills in as needed.
4. Assists in monitoring daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations. Performs equipment safety checks and report to supervisor.
5. Participates in aquatic and Y events, trainings, in-service trainings and meetings. Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings as needed.
6. Provides on deck supervision to lifeguards, swim instructors and aquatic staff under the direction of the aquatics director.
7. Ensures the safety of members and program participants. Builds effective relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
8. Teach group and private swim lessons as needed. Create and follow all lesson plans, communicate with parents as needed, and provide a fun, engaging atmosphere during all lessons. Assists in establishing new program activities and expanding programs within the community in accordance with the strategic plans.
9. CCC duties include entering in program codes, class roster, registration, vouchers, transfers and withdrawals.
10. Any other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
