Examines and inspects all outbound loads with the loaders carefully for correct quantities, material quality, and safety standards prior to leaving our facility. And ensures the sales contract directions are always followed to avoid any type of penalties and or load rejections.
Inspects Work In Progress (WIP) and finished products. With yard supervisors.
Communicates company policies to employees and enforces safety regulations.
Holds Daily staff meeting to review production and reviews the sales tracker with the yard supervisors daily so there is clear communication of what is sold, and the material is prepared and staged for shipping. This includes on the local runs as well with in house dispatch.
Recommends measures to improve the export and domestic shipment processes.
Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists employees in solving work problems by keeping them updated on when Sales contracts and bookings are created.
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
Responsible for making sure that material is properly according to each sales contract specifications
Ability to train on activities performed by employees supervised.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Back up for other supervisors in the yard as needed.
Logistics Duties
Daily management and coordination of shipments, the most cost efficient manner.
Schedule booking requests
Send shipping schedules to customers
Negotiates rates
Work directly with Steamship lines/ Freight forwarders to coordinate shipments for Export, Foreign to foreign and Imports
Responsible for analyzing contract (sales orders, purchase orders, LC’s, file switches, etc.) requirements and identifying logistical dilemmas and provide new solutions for resolution
Provide the appropriate insurance issuance certifications
Work directly with truck companies to coordinate domestic freight
Review Freight Payments
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Must be detailed-oriented with very good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with ERP systems
- Experience in logistics sales or Freight Forwarder-contract negotiations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
