Western Motorcoach is seeking skilled Diesel Mechanics to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in motorcoach diagnostics, tire service, equipment repair, soldering, and mechanical knowledge. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet.
Job Summary: Routine maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of diesel engines, removing, assembling, and Replacing without supervision.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include, but are not limited to, the following
- Performs routine preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel engines to minimize equipment downtime.
- Skilled in code reading, computer diagnostics, troubleshooting, and making repairs as required in a timely and efficient manner to reduce breakdowns and costs.
- skilled in inspecting and repairing complex mechanical problems, including engine, electrical, fuel, and emission systems, brake systems, exhaust repairs, steering, and suspension systems.
- Strong knowledge of Heating and Air Conditioning systems and repairs.
- Inspect each coach for safety-related and other defects as required to keep coaches running safely and efficiently
- Perform tire services, including mounting, balancing, alignment, and rotation.
- Handle Windshields, windows replacement, and wheelchair lift.
- Perform shock and strut replacements.
- Handle heavy lifting tasks as required.
- Compliance with DOT regulations. Perform safety inspections and prepare safety documentation required by DOT.
- Road test of vehicles as required. On-call and be able to do road service if needed.
- Communicates any mechanical problems to supervisors to resolve the issue.
- Completes paperwork as prescribed by the company and Federal guidelines in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Complete service reports and maintain accurate records daily.
- Clean tools and shop. Keep the work area clean on each shift and safe at all times.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have your own complete set of trade tools.
- Be able to read, write, and speak English
- Proven 3 to 6+ years in diesel engine maintenance and repair.
- Motorcoach and MCI bus experience is a plus!
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of diesel engines.
- Proficiency in using both hand and power tools and specialized equipment effectively.
- Proficiency in vehicle diagnostics and repair of electrical issues in diesel engines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose mechanical issues accurately.
- Have strong motorcoach mechanical troubleshooting aptitude.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks.
- Ability to perform tire services, including rotations and replacements.
- Experience with equipment repair and maintenance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and accuracy.
- Have the ability to multi-task and move from one job to the next with minimum delay time.
- Must be able to perform responsibilities with no supervision regarding job integrity.
- Ability to work flexible schedules such as shift work (day and night), weekends, etc...
- You must be motivated and have a flexible work schedule including weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations as needed. Our operation is 24/7, and our buses need to be on the road most of the time 24/7.
- Subject to occasionally being called out during non-working periods. Emergency and road service might need night, weekend, and holiday work.
- Subject to travel as needed.
- Valid A commercial driver's license (Class A or B) with a fairly clean driving record or a secure one within 90 days of hire will be preferable. This only applies to Master and Mid Mechanic.
