OVERVIEW:
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing the highest standard of medical care to Total Life Care Center Patients. TLCC is a health center which provides sexual health services, including HIV/STI treatment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Examines patients, including discussing medical history and symptoms and performing physicals
- Orders and interprets diagnostic tests, including x-rays, blood work, and scans
- Checks in with clients about test results and prognoses
- Advises patients regarding prescriptions and treatment plans
- Refers patients to specialists as necessary and analyzes medical records and reports
- Ensures medical records reflect all relevant information, including symptoms, treatments, and administration of prescribed and over-the-counter medications
- Updates patient charts and uploads to Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software
- Follows all federal, state, and nursing guidelines, regulations, and standards
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidate must be licensed in Georgia and hold board certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Candidates should have a Master’s degree in Nursing with at least 1 year of experience in HIV/STI care. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment when making decisions. Great communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with clinic staff and patients. Detailed knowledge of policies and regulations in the medical field. Ability to delegate and supervise tasks as required. Experience dealing with sensitive issues pertaining to the MSM community. Knowledge of issues affecting gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals with multicultural awareness. All candidates must have strong oral and written communication skills; sensitivity to and respect for diverse cultures, sexual orientations, identifications, and ethnicities; and sensitivity to the need for confidentiality and discretion as it concerns an individual’s HIV status. A working knowledge of how to use the following software tools is highly preferred: medical database software, medical research software, medical diagnosis software, medical billing software, e-prescribing software, scheduling software, billing software, and telemedicine software.
