Zimmerman Metals, Inc. (ZMI) seeks a Project Engineer to work in our Machine Shop. The position requires extensive interaction with co-workers, customers, and outside vendors. A successful candidate is levelheaded, respectful, organized, focused, and shows the ability to work in and support a positive team environment. The Project Engineer reports directly to the Director, Preconstruction.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Engineer’s main role is to manage the process documentation between design and detailing for several projects at one time. During this process, the Project Engineer will:
- Review and become familiar with a project’s design drawings and specifications.
- Handle RFIs (questions that arise due to design inconsistencies).
- Communicate directly with the Supervisor regarding those questions.
- Review shop drawings to ensure they meet ZMI’s detailing standards and conform to the design documents.
- Help resolve both shop and field questions with help from the project’s 3D model.
