Job Purpose:
Install and repair worn or defective machinery or equipment at customer sites following blueprints, manufacturer’s instructions and utilizes knowledge of mechanical hydraulic and electrical machinery. Operate machines through trial runs to ensure that quality and rate of production meet specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Perform repair, maintenance and start up on stretch wrappers, shrink wrappers, case sealing, case erectors, label printer/applicators, strapping equipment and assorted products at customer and Veritiv company sites.
- Conduct setup calibration, testing, mechanical assemblies and troubleshooting of circuits, components and instruments using moderately complex blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Perform a variety of sophisticated electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulics and electro-mechanical tests, repair and maintenance on equipment, assemblies, sub-assemblies and parts to ensure the equipment functions according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
- Support systems integration with customers, manufacturers, suppliers and other service personnel involving machine problems and/or turn-key systems.
- Perform complex re-builds and re-manufacturing and participates in application engineering activities.
- Generate quotes and estimates for preventative and planned maintenance of machines.
- Oversee and direct customers and installers to install equipment as a system per drawing.
- Interact and train internal and external customers and address problems in a professional and timely manner.
- Manage and maintain an accurate and effective truck inventory and maintain company vehicle as per company policies and expectations.
- Complete field service work orders including billing of travel, labor hours, parts and other related items in a timely and accurate manner.
- Provide subject matter expertise, trainings and product demonstrations of Veritiv packaging systems and related equipment if needed.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by management.
Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience:
- 5+ years’ experience performing repairs and maintenance on semi-auto and automatic equipment and machinery. 3+ years working in a service support organization.
- Must have certifications from manufacture trainings on stretch wrappers, shrink wrappers, case sealers, case erectors, label printers and strapping equipment or related products.
- Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, electrical symbols and how power flows through circuitry.
- Understand and demonstrate proper lockout/tagout and safety procedures.
- Can install, troubleshoot, train and work on most equipment including semi-automatic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret pneumatic, hydraulics, mechanical and electrical drawings for complex installation and troubleshooting equipment sold by Veritiv.
- Understand AC and DC voltages and can use an electric meter in troubleshooting scenarios.
- Troubleshooting skills – diagnosing and troubleshooting micro-logic device, electrical, pneumatic and PLC Ladder logic.
- Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) skills – can write simple logic, interface basic equipment and can make simple program changes. Has successfully attended a formal PLC training.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal telephone, verbal and written skills and communicates in a timely manner.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Must lift and handle parts up to 75 pounds
- Must work in industrial environments, including working on ladders and lifts at high elevation, as well as low elevations such as underneath equipment
- Must work in a variety of settings, including fast-paced industrial and food production environments
- Some overnight travel required, including long distance driving and air travel
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $63,600.00 - $77,800.00 per year
