Duties and Responsibilities:

Continually looking for opportunities to have library patrons feel welcome and connected to library materials and services.

Check in and process library materials as necessary

Accept and process fines, fees, or other payments

Assist with circulation activities including patron orientation, creating displays, shelving, etc.

Provide information regarding programs, events, conference rooms, etc.

Address or escalates patron conduct or safety issues to appropriate management

Supports other departments as needed.

Know and understand the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental tenet of a public library.

Education and Experience:

H.S. Diploma or GED required,
-
1 year library experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent listening and communication abilities.

Excellent customer service skills.

Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include some weekend and evening work.
Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in a library setting, using telephone and computer
Physical Demands:

Ability to move from place to place within the location; lift, push/pull, hold/carry of items weighing up to (25) pounds and occasional up to (35) pounds such as files, books, stacks of paper, and other materials.
