We are seeking a dedicated Guidance Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping students navigate academic, social, and emotional challenges to achieve their full potential.

Qualifications:
- Achieved, at minimum, a Master’s Degree
- Hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a School Guidance Counselor Endorsement (NT)
Essential Functions and Duties
· Provide comprehensive counseling plan for students, in traditional, virtual, and alternative educational programs in grades 9-12
· Coordinate and conduct activities which contribute to the implementation of the school counseling plan
· Counsel individuals and small groups with personal concerns
· Consult with teachers, staff, parents, and other significant people regarding the developmental needs of students
· Refer students with significant challenges to appropriate community resources in consultation with their parents
· Provide students with information on advanced placement opportunities
· Provide students with information on early/middle college opportunities
· Coordinate the placement and scheduling of students into dual enrollment and early/middle college programs
· Assist in the process of student registration as it relates to scheduling and IEP placement into appropriate courses
· Coordinate the master schedule process, placement of courses into sections with the least amount of conflicts, and work with students to ensure proper placement for graduation
· Schedule students into proper courses, meeting their personal goals, educational needs, and college readiness expectations
· Consult and assist in the placement and scheduling of special education students
· Ensure students are knowledgeable in the college application and entrance process
· Maintain a full understanding of Michigan graduation requirements and how courses relate to them
· Monitor and maintain the achievement of students meeting their graduation requirements
· Provide credit recovery solutions for students including monitoring, placement, and scheduling
· Monitor and communicate to parents and students all scholarship information
· Follow policies and procedures; complete administrative tasks correctly and on time; support organizational goals and values; benefit the organization through outside activities
· Display willingness to make decisions; exhibit sound and accurate judgment; support and explain reasoning for decisions, with research/proof to back-up those decisions; include appropriate people in decision making process; make timely decisions
· Exhibit confidence in self and others; inspire and motivate others to perform well; effectively and positively influence actions and opinions of others; accept feedback from others; give appropriate recognition to others
· Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues, parents, and students
· Coordinate high school testing programs including the PSAT 9, PSAT 10, PSAT/NMSQT, SAT and M-STEP
· Assist students and parents in the interpretation of testing results
· Establish and maintain close working relationship with local scholarship entities and support students in meeting scholarship deadlines
· Assist students in researching and understanding their post-secondary career and educational options, including application process, admission requirements, entrance exams, scholarships, and financial aid information
· Track academic progress and progress toward graduation for students – review transcripts, conduct credit audits, communicate status of credits to students, parents, and staff
· Other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Superintendent
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,076.00 - $75,570.00 per year
