The City of Phoenix Water Services Department, one of the nation’s largest potable water utilities, treats and delivers safe, reliable drinking water to 1.5 million customers across approximately 540 square miles. Phoenix Water Services also manages the sewer collection system and treats wastewater for 2.5 million residents in metropolitan Phoenix.
The Operations & Maintenance Supervisor provides front-line supervision for a group or section of Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technicians, Water Systems Operators, and specialty trades such as machinists, industrial maintenance mechanics, senior utility operators, planner/schedulers, and equipment operators involved in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of water and/or wastewater facilities and remote sites. The O&M Supervisor is expected to monitor the technical performance of facilities in their assigned areas and make any necessary adjustments to ensure that all requirements of state and federal regulatory agencies are met.
The O&M Supervisor may also serve as an Incident Commander or Emergency Responder in the event of chemical emergencies.
Employees may be required to meet self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) physical examination requirements established by the City designated physician and successfully complete departmental SCBA training/certification requirements as a condition of employment.
These positions will work irregular hours, shifts, weekends, holidays, nights, and stand-by.
