Assistant Teaching Position
Ventana is seeking elementary assistant teachers to work in our elementary program (K-5th). Assistant teachers work collaboratively with a lead classroom teacher and a team of specialists. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with other enthusiastic and creative educators.

We are looking for assistant teachers who:

Professional Qualifications:
- Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Essential Job Functions:
All staff in our elementary program are expected to maintain a democratic, creative environment in which meaningful learning and personal growth are fostered through a variety of active learning experiences.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Working with students one-on-one and in small groups, as guided by the lead teacher(s).
- Engaging students in active learning experiences around Ventana’s elementary curriculum
- Supporting learning inquiry and active student participation by collaborating with other teachers to develop age-appropriate project work through thoughtful reflection on student interests, passions, and dialogues
- Assisting in making learning visible by supporting the creation of documentation, as directed by the lead teacher(s)
- Facilitating a democratic community through daily Morning Meetings and Closing Circles, classroom meetings, conflict resolution strategies, and a view of the child as ‘competent’ in both solving problems and contributing to solutions
- Implementing classroom management strategies that draw on children’s strengths and participation
- Supervising, as assigned or requested, student unstructured time during recess periods
- Providing absence coverage for other teachers, as assigned or requested

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
