Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Optical / "Experienced Optician" to join our Optometry/ medical optometry team. As a key member of our eye care center, the Optical Technician will play a vital role in providing high-quality eye care and Eye Wear to our patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in anatomy and physiology, with a focus on Ophthalmic knowledge, pediatric vision care, geriatric vision care. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of technical tasks, including eye exams if knowledgeable in refraction, experience in optician and optical and optical procedures. Additionally, the Optical Technician will be expected to work closely with our front desk team to ensure seamless patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct and/ or assist in comprehensive eye exams, including visual acuity tests and ocular health assessments
- Perform optical procedures, such as lens measurements for ophthalmic lenses, pupillary distances, measurements traditional and with high tech pupillary measurement devices and contact lens fittings
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories and contact information
- Assist patients with insurance questions regarding their benefits and knowledge of industry insurance protocols, companies, policy benefits and terminolgy
-Assist with administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments and handling front desk duties
- Provide exceptional customer service, answering questions and addressing concerns with empathy and professionalism
- Stay current with the latest advancements in ophthalmology and pediatrics, ensuring that our patients receive the most effective and up-to-date treatments
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently
- Collaborate with other medical professionals, including ophthalmologists and optometrists, to ensure seamless patient care
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a training program for optical technicians (helpful, expereince mandatory)
- Current certification or licensure as an optical technician (helpful, experience mandatory)
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology, optometry, optician and optical roles, including anatomy and physiology
- Ability to perform tasks that require standing, bending and lifting for their 8 hour shift
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in medical terminology and ability to maintain accurate medical records
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment, handling multiple tasks and responsibilities with ease
- Sales experience is a plus, as the Optical Technician will be expected to promote products and services to patients
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
