JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: SSP- Paraprofessional (School-based) supporting virtual SSP (SLP, School Psychologist, OT)
LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: August - May
STARTING SALARY: DOE - Step 1-Admin Assistant Salary Table ($189.78/day for 174 days)
START DATE: August 5, 2024
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing support for the Specialized Service Provider (SSP) and related students in classrooms and other instructional settings. Develops professional relationships among school staff, related special education teams, and family members under the supervision of and in partnership with the SSP.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates and consults with the SSP, special education, and regular education teachers to provide educational/instructional services to students receiving services as directed by the SSP.
- Assists the SSP in providing services to students by bringing students to their sessions, problem-solving technology difficulties, and assisting with student engagement.
- May assist with instruction designed by the SSP and other activities in self-contained, resource-based, regular education classrooms, one-on-one, and small groups.
- Implements instruction designed by the SSP and collects appropriate data on students' progress in small groups and one-on-one sessions.
- As directed by the SSP, assists in material development for planned lessons. This may include programming assistive technology devices, making picture schedules, and creating communication boards.
- Supervises special education students as needed, which may include them in the lunchroom, on field trips, and on the playground.
- Interacts and corresponds appropriately with parents and other staff regarding staffing and other activities. Directs all questions about students' skills and progress to the SSP.
- Provides clerical support in a variety of functions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by the SSP.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION:
High School graduate or GED (required)
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Preferably at least 1 year of experience working in a position that clearly links and connects with the skills outlined above.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- General office equipment
- Technical proficiency in word processing and computers
- May require knowledge of specialized equipment depending on the assignment
- May require CPR or First Aid certification
