Coach Job Description
Overview:
The ELA Campus Coach is responsible for providing instructional support and coaching to teachers in the English Language Arts (ELA) department. This role focuses on enhancing the quality of ELA instruction, improving student literacy outcomes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in teaching practices. The ELA Campus Coach will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other staff to implement effective ELA curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Coaching:
- Provide one-on-one and group coaching to ELA teachers to improve instructional practices.
- Observe classroom instruction and provide constructive feedback.
- Model effective teaching strategies and co-teach lessons when necessary
Professional Development:
- Design and deliver professional development sessions focused on ELA best practices, curriculum implementation, and data-driven instruction.
- Facilitate collaborative teacher meetings and professional learning communities (PLCs).
Curriculum and Instruction:
- Assist in the development and implementation of the ELA curriculum aligned with state standards and school goals.
- Support teachers in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Provide resources and instructional materials to enhance ELA instruction.
Data Analysis and Assessment:
- Analyze student performance data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement.
- Assist teachers in using data to inform instruction and intervention strategies.
- Monitor the effectiveness of instructional strategies and interventions through ongoing assessment and feedback.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, and other staff to support the school’s instructional goals.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and the community about the ELA program and student progress.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives and committees as needed.
Student Support:
- Support the implementation of literacy interventions and enrichment programs.
- Assist in identifying and supporting students at risk of falling behind in literacy skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification in English Language Arts or related subject area.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful ELA teaching experience.
- Proven experience in instructional coaching or teacher leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of ELA curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data and use it to drive instructional decisions.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and development.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position based at Harmony School of Excellence Middle Houston.
- Regular interaction with teachers, students, and school staff.
- May require occasional evening or weekend work for professional development sessions or school events.
Job Type: Full-time
