Weihe Engineers specializes in civil / site / real estate projects involving engineering design and land surveying services. As a Utility Locate Technician (ULT), you will work independently as well as with other team members to help accurately capture existing site features (at or below grade), research and compile utility / infrastructure information, operate sensitive technology, and produce site data early in the project life cycle.
This position is part of our growing land surveying operation. While providing Utility Locate services, you will also be trained and perform land surveying services. Advancement opportunities include Sr. Utility Locate Technician or leading a team of ULTs. Career development opportunities can also lead to Land Surveying Crew Chief and/or Land Surveying CAD Technician.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly and correctly identify, locate, and mark public and private utilities, abandoned utilities, and other underground anomalies within specified areas using electromagnetic locating equipment and ground penetrating radar
- Thoroughly and clearly document locate findings with photos, sketches, and field notes
- Effectively communicate locate findings to Project Manager and on-site crews
- Read and understand utility maps or plans
- Assist Land Surveying Field Technicians and / or Crew Chiefs as needed
Requirements:
- Interest in pre-construction, site engineering design industry, and land surveying industry
- General understanding of public and private utility systems including electric, gas, oil, steam, communications, water, sewer, irrigation, etc.
- Understanding of hazards associated with utility systems and how to safely locate utilities
- Experience with and understanding principles of ground penetrating radar
- Experience with and understanding principles of electromagnetic locating equipment
- Will train the right candidate
