About Us:
American Transportation is a leading provider of school bus and charter bus services across California and Nevada. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Manager to join our team and oversee all functions of company payroll and benefits.
Position Summary:
The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing all payroll functions, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and effective benefits administration for the company and its affiliated companies. This role involves collaborating with various departments to maintain and enhance payroll and benefits processes, providing exceptional service to employees, and managing payroll-related inquiries and issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for roughly 200 employees, including data entry, timekeeping, and payroll calculations including direct affiliate companies.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Handle payroll tax reporting and filings, including quarterly and annual returns.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement plans, and other company-sponsored benefits.
- Conduct benefits orientations and provide ongoing support to employees regarding benefits inquiries.
- Maintain accurate payroll and benefits records, including employee deductions, direct deposits, and garnishments.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll reports for management.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure seamless payroll and benefits operations.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in payroll and benefits administration.
- Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes related to payroll and benefits.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll administration.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Experience with payroll software and systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional spreadsheet skills
- Professional certifications such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a multi-state payroll environment.
- Familiarity with benefits administration and open enrollment processes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong customer service orientation.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
