The role you will play:
Advise and assist in preparing conventional bids to owner.
Assist in receiving and evaluating subcontractor and major material quotations prior to bid day and on bid day.
Work as lead estimator on individual projects including takeoffs, sub solicitations, pricing, bid summaries, GC’s and final bid day preparations.
Complete post mortem review of bid projects where we were unsuccessful.
Take responsibility for review of project bid’s accuracy and communication of construction techniques and strategies used in bid preparation on successful bids with Project Management prior to project commencement.
Prepare and make estimate transfer to budget.
Perform value engineering for successful bids, as required by owner.
Develop and maintain Sub/Vendor database.
Develop and maintain cost history on different types of projects.
Conduct preconstruction using the PPD™ process.
Assist operations with buyout.
Cultivate Subcontract relationships.
Solicits and maintains communication with subcontractors and vendors
Prepares subcontractor bid packages
Transmits addenda and other bid information to subcontractors
Ensures that we have the proper coverage from subcontractors on bid day
Has a thorough understanding of the scopes for assigned, project specific subcontractor
Develops RFI's and clarifications
Assist with turnover of estimating package to Project Management
Manage assigned personnel, if applicable
Other duties as assigned
Strongly preferred: Three (3+) or more years of relevant experience, and estimating for large projects a plus. Expert knowledge of estimating software, engineering principles and construction principles.
