Job Summary: The Principal Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading the mechanical design and development of innovative products and systems. This role requires a seasoned engineer with extensive experience in mechanical engineering principles, product development, and project management. The Principal Mechanical Engineer will oversee the entire product lifecycle, from concept through production, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective solutions that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Project Management:
- Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects from concept to completion.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and other team members.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring adherence to schedules and cost constraints.
- Design and Development:
- Perform detailed mechanical design, analysis, and simulation using CAD and CAE tools.
- Create and review engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to ensure design viability.
- Develop prototypes, conduct testing, and validate designs to meet performance, reliability, and safety standards.
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and performance.
- Technical Expertise:
- Apply advanced mechanical engineering principles and techniques to solve complex problems.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring design robustness.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and internal teams, to understand requirements and expectations.
- Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and presentations to management and customers.
