L. Echevarria Attorneys at Law was established in January 2023 as the only modern Law Firm offering fluent real estate and corporate transactions in Spanish and English without a translator. Fully owned by a Hispanic attorney, the firm provides professional legal services in real estate, corporate governance, and contracts in Delaware. We pride ourselves in giving our clients the ‘keys to their future’ either by conducting their commercial and residential real estate transactions or planning and establishing the legal structure of their business.

We are a modern Real Estate and Corporate transactional law firm ready to meet clients and close deals (in both English and Spanish) in our offices in Lewes and Milford, DE or in the officesof Realtors and Loan Officers throughout the State of Delaware. At our firm, we specialize in a wide range of legal areas, with a primary focus on commercial and residential real estate transactions, sheriff sales, opinion letters for lenders, deed transfers, business planning, business divorces and sales, and contractual matters under Delaware Law. Job Summary:
Reporting to the managing attorney and working closely with L. Echevarria Law Office staff, the Paralegal plays an integral role in supporting daily real estate and corporate operations. You will be responsible for assisting with the preparation, organization, and management of various legal documents and processes related to real estate transactions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Your expertise will contribute to the smooth execution of real estate deals and the protection of clients' interests.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Communications: First point of contact for client intake. Communicate with clients to gather necessary information, provide updates on case progress, and address any questions or concerns they may have. Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Proactive weekly communication with internal and external stakeholders, including team members, lenders, realtors, buyers, and sellers. Review the initial contract and open the electronic file. Send over Welcome emails to the buyer, seller, realtors and lender.
2. Data and Document Preparation and Review: Assist with weekly emails in order to Collect property and town taxes, HOA fees, sewer, engagement letters, cancellation fees, parties contact information. Assist in the drafting, editing, and review of legal documents such as purchase agreements, addendums, ALTA statements, leases, deeds, mortgages, HUD-1 statements, cancellation letters, lender’s package and closing documents; ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
3. Transaction Coordination: Facilitate the coordination and organization of real estate transactions in Spanish and English, including the preparation of closing checklists, scheduling closings and remote transactions, and communicating with clients, lenders, real estate agents, and other involved parties.
4. File and Database Management: Maintain and organize physical and electronic files, databases, and records related to real estate transactions. Ensure proper documentation and efficient retrieval of information when needed.
5. Clearing Title Assistance: Assist clearing title by requesting payoffs or getting letters of indemnification or satisfaction documents from prior settlements companies.
6. Settlement: Ensure the lender’s package, seller and buyer documents and checks are printed and ready on the day of settlement along with a note for the attorney with important highlights of the file. Attend closing with the attorney and ensure all documents are properly signed, dated, and notarized. Scan each document and save in the proper electronic file.
7. Title and Due Diligence: Conduct comprehensive title searches, review title commitments, surveys, and other due diligence materials. Identify potential issues or discrepancies and collaborate with attorneys and title companies to resolve them.
8. Research and Analysis: Conduct legal research on real estate matters, including property laws, zoning regulations, and local ordinances. Provide attorneys with relevant information and analysis to support case strategies and client advisement.
9. Post-Closing Specialist: Ensure seamless transactions by issuing or amending title policies according to legal standards. Craft tailored post-closing packages for buyers and serve as the key liaison for lenders, facilitating requests for executed documents and clarifications on recorded documents or policies.
10. Court Filings and Recording: Prepare and file legal documents with appropriate courts, government agencies, and county recorders. Ensure timely and accurate submissions to meet deadlines and comply with procedural requirements.
11. Administrative Support: Assist attorneys with administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, attending remote settlements, notarizing documents remotely, and coordinating meetings. Handle correspondence, maintain billing records, and prepare expense reports and invoices as needed.
12. Business Planning & Contracts Support: Assist with the data collection, data entry, billing and draft of legal documents for the Business planning and contract practice of the Law Firm.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bi-lingual in Spanish and English, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in paralegal studies or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency in legal research and using relevant databases and software (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw, Microsoft Office Suite).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Desire to work with a dynamic and close-knit team of progressive, professional individuals and a strong commitment to serving our clients and their communities.
- Previous experience as a real estate paralegal or in a similar role within a law firm, title company, or real estate department.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with document management systems and case management software.
- Professional demeanor and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proven experience in a customer service role or a related field.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong ability to actively listen and empathize with customers in English and Spanish.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills with a focus on finding effective and efficient solutions.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations, demonstrating patience and professionalism at all times.
- Strong knowledge of legal administrative procedures and practices
- Excellent proofreading skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to interview clients and gather relevant information effectively
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Experience in project management is a plus
