The Position
The Adler Planetarium is seeking a Facilities Operations Supervisor to join our dynamic team located on Chicago's Museum Campus. The expected start date for this position is on Monday, August 5th, 2024. This position provides coverage and supervision for the Operations Support Team, assists with managing the facilities management software, and provides administrative support for the Facility Department. The position is normally scheduled Monday-Friday 8 am-3:30 pm with occasional shifted days or extended shifts based on operational needs. This individual will also be responsible for:

Base Pay: range: $19.75-$21.90/hr.

The Person
Applicants should have a strong sense of ownership - being able to work independently, proactively ensuring the facility is maintained, and be open to learning and providing feedback. Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong attention to detail, including but not limited to tracking operational needs to schedule shifts and coordinate tasks accordingly; ensuring work orders and assets in the facility management software are comprehensive and consistent in standards; and reviewing invoices for inconsistencies. Someone willing to lead by example enjoys both maintenance and office duties and has a facility operations, property management, or office/business administration background or passion to pursue one of those or a similar career path will strive in this position.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Two years or more of professional work experience in facility operations, property management, office/business administration, or similar.
Basic knowledge of computers and Google Suite.
Basic skill with operating hand tools.
Strong sense of ownership
Strong attention to detail
Able to perform maintenance and office duties
Preferred Qualifications:
A Certification or Associate's Degree in facility operations, property management, office/business administration, or similar.
Three or more years of professional work experience in facility operations, property management, office/business administration, or similar.
One year or more of professional work experience in a leadership/supervisory role.
Prior experience with work order management software, facilities management software, and/or accounts payable software.
