Job Description
The Dean of Students, reporting directly to the Principal, plays a key leadership role in planning, coordinating, and administering various school activities and programs. Responsibilities include overseeing student conduct, attendance, athletics, extracurricular programs, school safety and operations, and the supervision and evaluation of assigned personnel.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating intervention programs for at-risk students.
- Perform administrative duties to support the Principal in school management; assume Principal's duties in their absence as assigned.
- Provide leadership alongside the Principal.
- Supervise and evaluate designated certified and/or classified personnel; assign duties to faculty and staff to achieve school objectives; assist in recruiting, interviewing, and selecting faculty and staff.
- Develop and enforce disciplinary procedures in line with school policies and state laws; consult with students, teachers, community agencies, and law enforcement; address and resolve concerns and complaints from parents, students, and staff.
- Supervise students before and after school, during lunch, passing periods, and other activities; guide students in appropriate behavior and apply disciplinary measures as per guidelines.
- Monitor and manage attendance functions; communicate with parents through letters and calls and attend meetings regarding absent or tardy students; lead efforts to improve attendance.
- Direct various faculty, staff, and student programs and services; participate in formal and informal classroom visits and observations; provide feedback and suggestions for improvement as needed.
- Participate in Individual Educational Plan meetings as required.
- Serve a liaison for student government, extracurricular activities, student athletics, and other competitive or performance events; supervise evening activities as assigned; coordinate with Parent-Volunteer Organization (PVO) to plan school activities.
- Collaborate with the Principal to establish a safe learning environment; develop emergency plans in collaboration with administrators, staff, and public safety agencies.
- Prepare and maintain district, and state records and reports; oversee staff in record-keeping and reporting tasks.
- Attend administrative meetings and training sessions to enhance administrative skills; stay informed about the district's curriculum.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Valid Florida education certificate (educational leadership certification not required).
