Job Summary: The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities to drive the growth and profitability of the firm’s construction projects. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the construction industry, exceptional networking skills, and a proven track record in business development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to achieve company growth targets.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the construction sector, including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, and services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, industry partners, and stakeholders.
- Prepare and deliver presentations and proposals to potential clients, showcasing the company's capabilities and competitive advantages.
- Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and potential opportunities.
- Collaborate with the project management and engineering teams to ensure client needs are met and projects are delivered successfully.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients, ensuring favorable terms for the company.
- Monitor and report on business development activities, including pipeline progress, to senior management.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to enhance its visibility and reputation.
- Provide input into marketing strategies and campaigns to support business development efforts.
- Lead the development of responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs). Coordinate with the estimating and project management teams to prepare competitive and compelling bids.
- Oversee the creation of proposal documents, ensuring they are accurate, professionally presented, and aligned with client requirements.
- Work closely with project management, estimating, and operations teams to ensure alignment on project pursuits and client expectations.
- Lead and mentor junior business development staff. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the business development team.
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience in business development, preferably within the construction or general contracting industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach. Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
