We are a well-established manufacturing company that has been in business for over 30 years in San Diego. We are seeking an Inspection/Packaging & Shipping Clerk to join our growing team.
This a role that encompasses inspection, packaging, and shipping within a manufacturing company, a candidate needs to be familiar with major carriers in regards to shipping, packaging and inspection pre-shipping.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection:
- Conducting visual and/or mechanical inspections of products to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Identifying and documenting any defects, discrepancies, or non-conformances.
- Communicating inspection results to relevant personnel, such as production supervisors or quality control managers.
- Participating in the resolution of quality issues, including initiating corrective actions or rework processes as necessary.
Packaging:
- Packaging products according to specified requirements, which may include selecting appropriate packaging materials, assembling containers, and labeling items accurately.
- Operating packaging equipment such as sealing machines, label applicators, or shrink-wrap machines.
- Monitoring packaging processes to ensure efficiency, consistency, and compliance with company standards.
- Maintaining inventory of packaging materials and requesting replenishment as needed.
Shipping:
- Preparing shipments for delivery to customers or distribution centers, including packing items securely, generating shipping labels, and arranging transportation.
- Coordinating with shipping carriers or freight forwarders to schedule pickups and deliveries.
- Ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with shipping regulations, including customs documentation for international shipments.
- Tracking shipments and providing updates to customers or internal stakeholders as needed.
Record-Keeping:
- Maintaining accurate records of inspection results, packaging activities, and shipping transactions.
- Recording inventory movements, including receipts, transfers, and shipments, in the company's inventory management system.
- Generating reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inspection, packaging, and shipping activities, such as defect rates, packaging efficiency, or on-time delivery metrics.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhering to safety protocols and regulations while performing duties in inspection, packaging, and shipping areas.
- Participating in safety training programs and promoting a culture of safety awareness among colleagues.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing product quality, packaging standards, and transportation requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
- Actively participating in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Providing feedback and suggestions for optimizing inspection, packaging, and shipping processes.
- Implementing best practices and standardized procedures to drive continuous improvement in operational performance.

Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of inspection, packaging & shipping experience.
- Light industry experience preferred.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.

Pay: Up to $24.00 per hour
