Job Summary
Opus Interactive is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at a leading cloud hosting provider. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in public cloud management, operating systems, and applications, with a strong focus on AWS, Azure, VMware, Linux, and Windows operating systems. The role will involve working on networking, security, and infrastructure projects, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality cloud solutions to our clients.
The Senior Engineers are to lead their area of specialization and set an example with every customer they handle, and documentation produced. Some of the most important responsibilities are providing mentorship, training, and support to our junior staff, reducing the overall inflow of tickets and escalations allowing Engineering to focus on proactive work and customer growth. In addition, the creation of technical documentation, quality oversight, and work with the Operations Management and other Departments are essential to Engineering success.
To be successful as the Sr. Systems Engineer, excellent technical, analytical, and project management skills are a must. Also have strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. This role consistently interacts with key customers and is required to spot and communicate opportunities or pain points for additional services or solutions we can provide. Excellent English language (written and verbal) proficiency and ongoing growth of technical skills are required.
Key Responsibilities
Public Cloud Management: Design, implement, and maintain complex cloud infrastructures using AWS and Azure public cloud services. Ensure the efficient and secure operation of public cloud environments, optimizing performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Operating Systems and Applications: Manage and maintain Linux and Windows operating systems, as well as various applications, web servers, databases, Directory/Authentication/MFA and DNS services. This includes systems and tools for configuration management, patch management and monitoring. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to system performance, stability, and security.
Networking and Security: Collaborate with network and security teams to design, implement, and maintain secure and reliable network infrastructures, including authentication, MFA, MDR, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs. Ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Infrastructure Work: Participate in infrastructure design, planning, and deployment projects, including data center migrations, capacity planning, and disaster recovery solutions on VMware and other Open Source virtualization platforms. Develop and maintain technical documentation and processes to support ongoing operations and continuous improvement.
Active Directory: Design, implement, and maintain Active Directory infrastructure, including user and group management, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and domain controllers. Ensure proper synchronization and integration with other systems and services.
Client Engagement: Collaborate with clients to understand their business requirements, design tailored cloud solutions, and provide ongoing technical support and guidance. Act as a subject matter expert, ensuring client satisfaction and successful project outcomes.
Qualifications
· 7+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role, with a strong focus on public cloud management, operating systems, and applications.
· Managed Services, Service Provider, and Cloud Service Provider experience
· In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, VMware, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
· Experience with web servers, databases, DNS, Active Directory, networking, and security technologies.
· Scripting experience – Python, shell, Powershell
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clients.
· Professional certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or VMware Certified Professional, are a plus.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
