Primary Care Veterinarian Job description
The Long Island University College of Veterinary Medicine (LIU-CVM) invites applications from self-directed, innovative and motivated individuals for a full-time, tenure or clinical track faculty position in Primary Care. Candidates for this position will have various responsibilities with the course Veterinary Skills and serve as Clinical Year Veterinary Mentor for 4th year veterinary students.
Veterinary skills includes both clinical and professional skills. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in and or lead veterinary skills laboratories according their expertise. Thus, candidates with all levels of expertise and experience are encouraged to apply. The position may be filled as Assistant or Associate Professor and may select either clinical or tenure track options. Successful candidates will primarily be engaged in the College’s educational and service activities. Responsibilities will include clinical and didactic teaching in veterinary skills courses which may include working with LIU-CVM partners/affiliate veterinary hospitals. Successful candidates are expected to promote LIU-CVM’s overall mission of enhancing veterinary medicine education through a commitment to teaching, academic excellence, research, and service to a variety of stakeholders.
Clinical Year Veterinary Mentors are responsible for supporting and monitoring the progress of 30-35 4th year veterinary students throughout their clinical year. Additionally, Clinical Year Veterinary Mentors may assist with educating pre-clinical classes about the clinical year and may also assist with site visits as needed.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a DVM or equivalent degree. Specialty boards and advanced degrees are preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of curricular design and implementation. S/he/they will have the proven ability to promote a culture of diversity, equity and inclusiveness and will interact well with University administration, the veterinary education community, faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

Compensation:
