The Department of Microbiology at The University of Iowa is seeking a Visiting Scholar to investigate the intersection of nutritional immunity and the pathogenesis of Staphylococcus aureus in the laboratory of Dr. Thomas Kehl-Fie. Duties include generation of bacterial mutants and performing assays to evaluate the phenotypes of the mutants.
Interested applicants must have a Ph.D in Microbiology or related field and experience with molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques. Applicants must also have experience working with S. aureus and performing bacterial growth assays. A strong background in bacteria-host interactions is desired. Must be able to independently design, execute, and interpret experiments, work in collaboration with other members of the laboratory, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
This position is temporary with an anticipated length of two years and an annual salary of $35,000.
