To further our mission of helping individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to live their best possible lives, the St. Louis Arc is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic professional to join our Nutrition team as an Assistant Food Service Technician
*What you will do:*
*_Provide food preparation support in the St. Louis Arc's Nutrition Center_*
* Adhere to Arc Core Values of Respect, Collaboration, and Empowerment
* Accurately portions of meals and snacks, per written specifications. Provide alternative meal options under the direction of Food Service Manager to meet the special dietary needs of residents with food allergies or intolerances.
* Follows principles of safe food handling and preparation techniques at all times and ensures that these are practiced by all staff and trainees that assist with food preparation.
* Communicates frequently with other food service team members and program management the status of daily meal requirements.
* Ensures all meal requirements and duties are completed as needed. Works and communicates effectively as a team member to achieve success in all areas of the food service department.
* Ensure the kitchens, dining areas, utensils, and equipment are kept clean and sanitary; ensure all items on cleaning charts are completed
* Ensure temperature logs, production log counts, and prep lists are completed on a daily basis.
* Accurately follows recipes and specifications, and stays informed on recipe corrections and updates to menu books.
* Completes all paperwork required for daily shifts i.e. temperature logs, production counts, and preparation list.
* Demonstrates the ability to organize and complete assignments.
* Demonstrates professional conduct, concern, respect, and compassion toward all residents, trainees, co-workers, and the public as a representative of St. Louis Arc in preparing and delivering meals to residents.
* Works gracefully with other staff members and trainees to prepare, serve, and clean up all meals.
* Report any breakdowns, malfunctions, or damage to equipment in the kitchen to the Food Service Manager immediately.
* Effectively stocks shelves upon delivery of food items utilizing the FIFO method.
* Attends all Food Service and Staff meetings as required by management.
* Demonstrate and support all St. Louis Arc Diversity and Inclusion practices/initiatives

* High school diploma or equivalent
* At least one year of food service experience
* Food Service Handler Certification (Servsafe) - can be obtained upon hire
