Job Summary:
As a Pharmacist in Charge, you’ll be involved with multiple facets of the home infusion/specialty process as you interact with insurance companies, staff members, distributors, Physicians/Nurses, and patients to ensure accurate and safe quality service. You will use your experience as part of the Pharmacy Team to resolve problems when unforeseen roadblocks arise. Under indirect supervision, oversees all aspects of the pharmacy operations, including but not limited to patient services, administration, and personnel supervision. Provides full range of patient services by filling prescriptions, counseling patients, and supervising pharmacy staff. Assures that all services comply with professional standards and applicable laws and regulations. Exercises broad judgment in professional field requiring extensive subject matter knowledge and expertise, while keeping senior management fully informed of operating issues and results.
Primary Responsibilities:

Supervise the pharmacy staff to ensure accurate and safe job performance.

Directs, coordinates, and supervises all pharmacy activities including drug preparation, sterile products preparation and dispensing and clinical pharmacy services.

Works with VP of Operations to facilitate and coordinate pharmacy operations

Participates/assists in procurement of drugs, supplies and equipment used in preparing and administering drugs.

Performs duties of the clinical pharmacist as necessary.

Maintains clinical skills and knowledge of pharmacotherapy and intravenous therapy by reviewing the literature and attending in-services, seminars, and conferences.

Performs marketing support as requested.

Coordinates department QA activities for pharmacy.

Participated in recruitment and hiring of potential new pharmacy operations personnel.

Performs performance reviews, at least annually, on pharmacy personnel.

Participates/coordinates orientation and training of pharmacy, operations, and other organization employees.

Participates in branch management and inter-departmental meetings as required.

Coordinates/participates in departmental meetings as scheduled.

Prepare and submit management reports as required.

Participates in development of the branch budget for pharmacy operations.

Guides pharmacy toward achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual projections based on financial and management objectives.

Follows established channels of authority and communications throughout the organization.

Maintains on-call schedule for pharmacists and covers as needed.

Performs special tasks or projects as requested.

Develop courteous and professional relationships with patients, vendors, and the InfuCare Rx staff.

Maintain daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual reports.

Maintain a perpetual Schedule II Inventory.

Mentor pharmacy students as employees, including participation as a rotation site for pharmacy students and providing learning environment.

Perform other duties as assigned

Maintain state pharmacy license.

Observe legal and ethical guidelines for safeguarding the confidentiality of patient and proprietary company information.

Understand and comply with all HIPAA requirements and regulations

Participate in the process for assessing, managing, and reporting medication-related incidents and equipment errors and/or failures.

Accurately completes occurrence forms and forwards them to the appropriate governing bodies.

For all activities complies with accreditation, legal, regulatory and safety requirements.
Required Qualifications:
-
A Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (RPh) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited (Council on Pharmaceutical Education) college of Pharmacy.

Currently Licensed as a registered pharmacist in the state of employment.

Possess a minimum of two years pharmacy operations and clinical pharmacy experience in Hemophilia, Specialty Injectable and Home Infusion therapy.

Possess a strong knowledge base in intravenous admixture and clinical aspects of Home Infusion therapy.

Possess the necessary supervisory/management skills and/or experience to supervise the pharmacy aspects of Home Infusion therapy.

Can communicate, both verbally and written, with patients, clients, management, and other employees.

Can plan and problem solve.

Possess good organizational and time-management skills.

Experience:

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, government regulations and legal documents. The ability to write reports, business correspondence, policy, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, company staff members, and patients/caregiver.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical interference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Cognitive Demands: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, order processing systems, and CPR+.
