Axiom is seeking a System Administrator to join our team in providing technical support services. The overall objective of this program is to operate and maintain a state-of-the-art meteorological laboratory/facility for the evaluation and life cycle support of equipment and software used to make meteorological observations.
Responsibilities of the System Administrator include:
- Installing and upgrading software, hardware (servers), computer systems, and networks including LANs, WANs, and other data communication systems
- Supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer servers and network devices (switch, router, hub)
- Overseeing IT infrastructure - managing databases, networks, and servers to maintain optimal system performance and data security
- Familiarity with various operating system (Windows, Linux)
- Knowledge and experience of system security (intrusion detection systems), and data backup/recovery
- Troubleshoot complex IT issues and outages
- Possess network management skills
- Experience with patch management, vulnerability scanning and remediation
- Proficient in creating network topology diagrams (network maps) and able to describe the function of network devices
- Possess one or more of the following IT certifications: CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Server+, MCSA, MCSE
- Detail-oriented and efficient
- Ability to create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and other technical documentations
- Work with end users in person and over phone/email requests
- Ability to multitask projects and deliverables with minimal supervision and guidance
This position requires a minimum 5-10 years of experience in the IT field (primarily as a system administrator and/or network administrator)
