Director of Economic Development
The Director of Economic Development will strategically lead the revitalization of the neighborhood through innovative programs, active engagement of local businesses and stakeholders, as well as cultivating partnerships with the local community. This position will be responsible for the overall operation of key ACHIEVEability programs.
Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible to assess and refine the organization’s existing strategy, helping ACHIEVEability to achieve its mission and deliver on its strategic objective and recommend programmatic and operational improvements, where appropriate.
· Economic Development Services
o Lead efforts to improve and manage the 60th St Commercial Corridor and support neighborhood businesses
o Oversight of ACHIEVEability Connects program focused small business support, safety and public space improvement including: program design, development and implementation, funding and contract management, database maintenance and updates, evaluation and internal/external reporting, financial and personnel management.
o Cultivate and maintain partnerships with residents, schools, businesses, community organizations and institutions, as well as leaders within the City of Philadelphia,
funders and other stakeholders to broaden and deepen ACHIEVEability’s impact in the community.
· Programs and Reporting
o Promote and report on strategic efforts and programs.
o Prepare timely written and data-driven reports for both internal and external requirements.
o Assist with developing proposals for funding to enhance or introduce new programming.
o Identify and secure new revenue, while also raising funds in collaboration with other internal and external entities, as appropriate
· Management
o Serve as a key resource and strategic thought partner to senior managers throughout the organization.
o Supervise ACHa Connects staff, interns and volunteers. Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback on an on-going basis.
o Active engagement, oversight and partnership with the NAS and its subcommittees.
o Participate in meetings, presentations, workshops and other forums to promote ACHa Connects programs to residents, partners and funding agencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.
· 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience
· Strong background in community organizing in low-income neighborhoods
· Capacity to work with diverse audiences -- community residents & leaders, youth, staff, funders, policy makers and ACHa board members
· Experience with City of Philadelphia systems – DHCD, School District, DHS, Commerce Dept., etc

· Enthusiastic, energetic, creative, follows through, flexible and eager to learn.
· Willing to work evenings and weekends and comfortable working in an urban environment.
· General computer skills, including word processing, internet and email.
· Punctuality, flexibility, ability to multitask and prioritize.
