Quality Assurance Food Safety Specialist:
Job Responsibilities: Plans, coordinates, directs and oversees quality assurance program designed to ensure quality production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties or through subordinate supervisors and staff.
- Managing Quality Technician responsible for daily quality operation processes including but not limited to: labeling, scheduling, production planning, outside laboratory testing, and equipment maintenance, receiving, supply ordering, maintaining adequate standards.
- Instruct and train staff responsible for daily testing of products and the reporting of results.
- Leading an internal audit team by identifying training requirements, scheduling audits and evaluating audit effectiveness. Reviewing, preparing and approving documentation (policies, procedures, instructions and forms) as necessary, and introducing and training for new employees.
- Formulates and maintains quality assurance objectives complementary to company policies and goals.
- Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
- Manage HACCP program and Food Safety Program as required by FDA.
- Drive for continual improvement with corrective action management.
- Provide a strong presence on the floor to assure compliance to process and quality controls.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or comparable required.
- More than 5 years of Food Manufacturing Experience
- More than 3 years’ experience in a Quality Manager role
- Have HACCP and PCQI certification credentials
- Proven ability to manage a Quality Department
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Preferred Education, Experience & Qualifications
- Leadership experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Experience working with any of the U.S. government agencies such as FDA and USDA.
- Experience with Halal certifications and audits ensuring protocols are enforced and followed.
- Knowledge of statistical software highly recommended.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of associates and customers.
- Ability to manage and successfully lead third party and regulatory audits.
- Experience with hygienic design and new equipment installation. Good understanding of sanitation management programs.
Physical Demands:
- Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend, and kneel.
- Occasionally must push, pull, move or lift up to 25 lbs.
